Cogeo Energy Consents

With the end of the Feed-in-Tariff firmly in sight Cogeo were delighted to support three clients with planning consent for two wind turbines and a solar array during February. The timing of the consents allows the sites to be pre-accredited and claim the government backed tariff.

“We were delighted that our hard work and perseverance paid off for our clients” says Senior Development Consultant, Bethan Lewis. “Each site presented a number of challenges and working alongside the councils we were able to satisfy any concerns and get the developments over the line in time to benefit from the Feed-in-Tariff”. She continued; “It was thanks to the team pulling together and adding their specialist knowledge that provided such robust applications which definitely helped keep the projects on track and short consenting timescales”.

In spite of the end being nigh for the FiT scheme, Bethan isn’t worried about the impending tariff losses.

“What we’ve seen is markets adapting to the reduced tariff regime implemented in 2015 and the solar industry in particular has a strong pipeline that is all being developed without tariff support. Our message to clients is very clear, the challenge businesses face from the rising cost of energy means renewable technology is going to be an important strategy for any business. We are already working on a number of projects that have never been designed to need tariff support and that is something we expect to continue in the future”.

With the 31st of March fast approaching Cogeo’s team is working hard to make sure that this month is even better than the last. With the team supporting clients with solar, wind, biomass and heat pump planning applications our client’s businesses are set to benefit significantly from their efficient energy strategies.
