CONSULTATION
Welcome to the consultation page for the proposed repowering of two wind turbines at Park Farm, Everingham, York, YO42 4LD.
What is the project?
The proposed development is a turbine repowering of 2x WES 250 with 2x Vestas V52 at Park Farm.
Why is this project happening?
Park Farm is a long-established mixed farming business with significant electricity requirements, using approximately 16,000 kWh of electricity each month. To manage the farm’s operations sustainably, it’s important that they improve energy efficiency and make the best use of renewable energy.
The existing two turbines have become very expensive to maintain. The manufacturer has also gone into liquidation, making replacement parts difficult to source. Repowering will deliver more efficient, reliable turbines that are easier to maintain.
Beyond that, repowering provides a more sustainable source of electricity for the future and supports the business's continued operation, maintaining its commitment to responsible farming for years to come.
A Message from the Farm
Our family business has been based here for 90 years, and we are proud to continue farming and contributing to the local community. We run a mixed farming business, producing poultry, beef and arable crops, including wheat, barley and maize for cattle feed. The farm is run by three family members, alongside one employed member of staff.
We are committed to making the farm as efficient and sustainable as possible. In 2016, we invested in 50 kW of solar panels, and renewable energy continues to play an important role in how we manage the business. We want to build on this investment and ensure the farm remains efficient, resilient, and well prepared for the future.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our plans. We value our local community and want to keep our neighbours informed and involved as we move forward.
