In support of Welsh Water's drive to become an energy neutral business, solar pv and battery storage was identified as the best technologies to offset energy use at Broomy Hill Water Treatment Works, Herefordshire.
Cogeo was responsible for the planning application and associated environmental assessments with site design carried out by development partners Absolute Solar & Wind.
One of the challenges of the site was the proximity to the Broomy Hill Conservation Area and Grade II listed Water Tower which raised concerns with the Heritage Officer.
Our Planning Team provided additional assessment for the site and negotiated a landscape mitigation scheme with the Case Officer to ensure Planning Permission was granted.
With the closure of the Feed-in-Tarrif scheme this development is one of a number of subsidy-free schemes being worked on, showing that solar is still a great investment option for buisnesses looking to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.
