Herefordshire Solar Consent

Cogeo's Planning expertise has secured another solar planning consent in Herefordshire on behalf of Welsh Water. Adding to the existing consents at Broomy hill and Bewdley Bank, Ridgehill Water Pumping Station is the latest site to benefit from renewable energy.

Located south of Hereford, the site will be supplied from a 240kW array mounted on the buried water tanks at the works. The energy will be used onsite to reduce grid consumption, provide energy resilliance and improve the company's Carbon Footprint.

“Faced with a changing climate and increased energy costs, we will aim to become an energy neutral business whilst maximising the opportunities to reuse treated water and other potentially valuable natural materials, contributing to the circular economy” - Welsh Water 2050 Document

Cogeo supported the project by providing Planning and Environmental assessments for the site, working alongside the Absolute Solar & Wind Design team. Despite facing some challenges, planning was consented with only minor pre-commencement conditions.

We are proud to support Welsh Water in their drive to become a sustainable and carbon-neutral business.
