We are delighted to have been granted planning consent for a 0.56 MW solar array on the Science and Technologies Facilities Council site at Daresbury. Internationally recognised, the campus is a centre for world-leading scientific excellence in a diverse variety of fields, from nuclear physics to supercomputing.
Located between Runcorn and Warrington, Daresbury Laboratory has pushed the boundaries of modern science for over 50 years. The continued expansion of the campus and cutting edge science facilities will secure their position as an outstanding scientific organisation capable of producing world-leading research, innovation and skills.
Working on behalf of Ameresco, one of the UK's leading energy consultants, we supported the Screening Opinion through to the Planning Application determination. We undertook badger and invasive species surveys alongside the phase 1 habitat survey as part of the project ecology works. Cogeo carried out environmental studies, including a glint & glare assessment for air traffic to support the planning statement.
A 1,248-panel array has been proposed with an option for pile-driven and ballasted frames, which will allow the possibility of construction without any vibration interfering with the highly accurate equipment on the laboratory site.
